The National Assembly will discuss in the first reading changes to the Law on Energy, which provide for a one-year postponement of the liberalization of the wholesale electricity market.
The parliament will start with the discussion of two bills for changes to the law on energy. With them, a new postponement of the exit of households to the free energy market is foreseen by one year. Thus, instead of July 1 this year, it is scheduled to take place on July 1, 2025. The main argument is that our country is not ready for the liberalization of the economy, which was confirmed by the parliamentary energy committee and the chairman of KEVR, Ivan Ivanov.
Today’s program also includes the first reading of the amendments to the Law on Defense and the Armed Forces, which provide for a 30 percent increase in the salaries of military personnel from the beginning of 2025.
In parliamentary control, in addition to acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, four other acting ministers will answer questions from MPs – Galya Kondeva of Health, Evtim Miloshev of Tourism, Atanas Zapryanov of Defense and Petar Dimitrov of Environment and Water. Evtim Miloshev will inform about the readiness of the ministry for the upcoming summer season and the solution to the problem of the shortage of personnel in the tourism sector, the Minister of Defense will be responsible for the announced new order of the department for the capital-restoration repair of MIG-29 engines. Acting Minister of Health Galya Kondeva will answer a question related to the distribution of paradise gas.
