State Duma deputy Alexei Burnashov, who was detained in July by Perm police on suspicion of drunk driving, apologized.
«I deeply regret the situation that happened and I want to offer my sincere apologies, especially to the traffic police and everyone who became an unwitting eyewitness to what happened. Unfortunately, in this situation, succumbing to the will of emotions, I uttered impartial and inadmissible statements, which in another situation seemed I would be completely outrageous, ”wrote Mr. Burnashov on Facebook.
Let us remind you that on July 8, a car driven by Aleksey Burnashov was stopped by police officers, who suspected him of drunk driving. As a result, according to sources familiar with the situation, the deputy hit one of the police officers in the jaw and then insulted them using profanity. Mr. Burnashov’s “speech” was recorded on video.
As a result, he was taken first to the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and then to the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Perm Territory, where explanations were taken from Alexey Burnashov as part of a pre-investigation check about insulting the authorities. Its progress and results were not officially reported.
«I admit that my behavior was unworthy and I apologize to everyone who was hurt by my words. I admit that this behavior is unacceptable. Everyone has unpleasant situations in life and you need to be able to control your emotions without harming others, ”said Alexey Burnashov.
Alexey Burnashov was elected to the State Duma of the Russian Federation from United Russia in 2016. Then he won the primaries and was nominated by the ruling party. Before being elected to the federal parliament, Mr. Burnashov was a member of the Perm Duma (2006-2007) and the regional legislative assembly (2007-2016).
This year, the parliamentarian, following the preliminary voting (primaries) of United Russia, lost to the deputy of the Legislative Assembly and adviser to the governor of the Perm Territory, Roman Vodianov, and lost the opportunity to be nominated from the ruling party. At the same time, he publicly stated that he was not going to refuse to participate in the elections, but after the incident with the traffic police officers, he did not declare himself as a self-nominated candidate.
