Federal deputy Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) pushed and expelled a member of the Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL), identified as Gabriel Costanero, from the premises of the Chamber of Deputies, after being approached and insulted by the boy. The episode occurred on Tuesday afternoon (16), during a moment of intense movement in the House. Videos shared on the internet show Costanero arguing and calling the parliamentarian “stupid” and “weak”, while broadcasting online. The activist has a habit, on his social networks, of posting videos in which he addresses parliamentarians and left-wing political figures with provocations.
At the time of the discussion, Glauber Braga stated that Costanero is responsible for domestic violence against an ex-partner, while the right-wing activist responded that it was defamation and repeated insults against the parliamentarian. The discussion heated up when Costanero mentioned Glauber Braga’s mother. Then, the deputy pushed the militant out of the building, through one of the side doors. The scene was witnessed and recorded by dozens of people. After the incident, the parliamentarian published a video on social media.
“This MBL guy has a history of attacking women. This is his fifth provocation! The fourth time he threatened the mother of one of our militants over 70 years old, saying he knew where she lived. There is already a police report about this! No I regret nothing I did! I’m not going to go back to being an MBL fascist”, he stated.
One of the MBL leaders, federal deputy Kim Kataguiri (União Brasil-SP), came to Gabriel Costanero’s defense and called for the PSOL parliamentarian’s impeachment. “There is no video showing aggression by an MBL member against anyone. Do you know what there is? Multiple pieces of evidence against the PSOL deputy who warned in plenary that he would attack Costanero. It makes no sense for the Chamber to keep this guy among its members”, wrote in a social media post. An edited video posted on Costanero’s Instagram shows snippets of the confusion and the moment he is pushed and expelled by Braga. The report has not been able to obtain a response from MBL activists so far.
