It was in the controversy that in September, the deputy Aurore Bergé (Renaissance, the presidential party) had inaugurated the season of appointments of representatives of Parliament to the boards of directors (CA) of public audiovisual companies.

This continues in a double game of dominoes and musical chairs with the probable arrival, according to information from the Mondeof deputy Jérémie Patrier-Leitus (Horizons, center-right party chaired by former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe) on the board of directors of Radio France.

The spiral that led to the choice of the 33-year-old Calvados deputy was triggered precisely at the start of the school year. While tradition would have it that the place on the CA of France Télévisions falls to the new president of the cultural affairs commission, Isabelle Rauch (Horizons), the latter had accepted that the chair occupied by her predecessor Bruno Studer (Renaissance) go to Ms. Bergé, representative of the majority and member of the committee.

Respect for parity

“The wolf is in the sheepfold and the will to regain political control is clear and clear”the unions were immediately alarmed, denouncing an ominous appointment in a context of the abolition of the fee – Aurore Bergé was notably general rapporteur for the bill relating to audiovisual communication, buried in 2020 due to confinement.

Mrs. Rauch’s ambition, however, was quite different. In his mind, Jérémie Patrier-Leitus having agreed to give up the presidency of the Cultural Affairs Committee, which interested him, for his own benefit, it was fair play to reserve his place on the CA of Radio France. Besides that“it is good to share responsibilities”reminds the Monde Mrs. Rauch, her appointment allowed you to kill two birds with one stone.

Pursuant to article 2 of the law of August 3, 2018, in fact, it is a man who was expected to succeed Céline Calvez (Renaissance). But the text states that “When the National Assembly and the Senate are called upon, pursuant to a law, to appoint, respectively, a deputy and a senator to sit, in this capacity, within a body external to Parliament, they appoint alternately, each as far as he is concerned, a woman and a man”. But as the deadline approaches, a big « hic » appeared: Mr. Patrier-Leitus being (decidedly) a man, his appointment to the board of directors of Radio France and his presence on December 16 would have caused the body to lose its joint character. And his eventual decisions could have been invalidated.
