The new Center for Integrated Social and Health Services in Plovdiv, built with BGN 2.3 million under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, will offer free support to residents of the Stolipinovo district. Today it was officially opened in the presence of Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nataliya Miteva, Deputy Mayor for Sports and Youth Activities Nikolay Bukhalov, Head of the Social Policy Directorate Veselin Boteva, representatives of the project and municipal councilors.

“It is a great pleasure for us at the Ministry of Education and Science to support the construction of such a center for integrated services. We are obliged to provide opportunities for both social life and access to administrative services, education, the labor market and a dignified and happy life of every single citizen of Bulgaria,” stressed Deputy Minister Miteva. She added that this type of service is important to be close to the residents of the neighborhood.

Nikolay Bukhalov thanked the ministry for its support and wished him success.

“I am happy that we were able to finish this project. It ended in April, but the Plovdiv municipality guarantees the continuation of the activity until September, when it became an activity delegated by the state,” he added.

The newly built building has rooms for training and computer activities, a health office, consultation rooms, a dining area and a creative corner, and administrative, educational, health and social services will be provided in one place. Doctors, teachers of Bulgarian language, music and arts, educational mediators, social workers and consultants will work in the center.

The director of “Social Policy” Veselina Boteva expressed admiration for the project team, which has been carrying out activities for almost 2 years without a built building. “Every new beginning is difficult, but I am convinced that in a year we will have something to brag about and tell about the destinies we have changed,” she said.

The head of the project, Nedka Petrova, said that over the period of 28 months, 1,150 residents of Stolipinovo district received integrated services before the center was completed. Among the activities are the provision of a hot lunch for disadvantaged people, improving the language capacity of children and adults, conducting professional qualification courses, etc.
