Derek Kutesa releases Servette FC

by time news

Servette FC always knows how to win! After four draws in a row, the Grenat returned to victory during the first French-speaking derby of the year.

At the Stade de Genève in front of 5,252 spectators, René Weiler’s team won 1-0 against Yverdon. The Garnet, however, had to wait until the 79th minute to force the decision. Admirably served by Miroslav Stevanovic, Dereck Kutesa could, with the involuntary complicity of Mohamed Tijani, surprise Paul Bernardoni at the near post.

The French goalkeeper had been happier before the break with a VAR decision which canceled a success from Jérémy Guillemenot following a tragic restart error on his part. Brilliant on his line certainly, Paul Bernardoni did not really leave a masterful impression at the Stade de Genève. Like his partners elsewhere who were not really capable of carrying the danger in the last thirty meters. We had the right to expect more from Yverdon.

With this victory, which erases the 4-1 conceded on August 26 during the first confrontation against the Nord-Vaudois team, Servette FC extended its invincibility series. The Garnet are now undefeated in thirteen league matches before the final test on Wednesday in St. Gall.

The unfortunate SLO

At Pontaise, Stade Lausanne-Ouchy was unable to continue. Six days after its 3-2 success in Lugano, SLO lost 3-1 to Winterthur at the end of a match which will leave a mountain of regrets.

Everything was decided in the space of six minutes with a penalty from Gabriel Kyeremateng saved by Marvin Keller in the 12th before two Zurich goals scored by Luca Zuffi (13th) and Nishan Burkart (18th). Mergin Qarri’s superb strike to reduce the score in the 58th minute should give new impetus to the Lausanne side. The Zurich residents, however, did not give up before signing the 3-1 at the end of added time by Randy Schneider for a victory which allows them to switch to the right side of the bar!
