The businessman again spoke out against the policy of the regulator

Russian businessman and billionaire Oleg Deripaska in his Telegram channel called the decision of the Bank of Russia to raise the key rate to 5.5%, which will further strengthen the exchange rate of the Russian national currency, “madness”.

“As I understand it, the carry-tradings lobbyists (speculation on the stock exchange, which are based on the difference in interest rates in different states – note” MK “) are stronger than ordinary Russians in our politics,” the businessman wrote in his publication.

On June 11, the Central Bank announced the second consecutive 0.5% rate hike due to high inflation, which, according to Rosstat, exceeded 6% in annual terms for the first time in five years in May.

The regulator’s decision was expected, so the ruble exchange rate has been growing since the beginning of the week – the dollar and euro dropped below 72 and 87 rubles, respectively. According to the Moscow Exchange, the quotes did not react to the increase itself, continuing to move in the same dynamics.

Shortly before the meeting of the Bank of Russia, the businessman published another post in which he again spoke out against the policy of raising rates. The latter, from Deripaska’s point of view, maintains outdated stability and does not allow the Russian economy to grow.
