After twenty years of inactivity, Garage Traversi, a jewel of the 1930s, is reborn. The Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades exhibition is open until 12 June

Built in 1939, as part of the larger renovation project of Piazza San Babila, the Garage Traversi had been designed to house the first multi-storey garage in Milan without ramps, equipped with a car-mounting system, which made it particularly special. This admirable example of rationalist architecture and historical place for the Milanese tradition designed by the architect Giuseppe de Min is now returned to Milan after twenty years of inactivity in a completely renewed guise thanks to the Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades exhibition (until 12 June, on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile in Milan) with the intention of making it a temporary store of the brand that will present the Louis Vuitton collections here.

Since 2012, the Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades collection, consisting of ingenious, creative furnishings and functional objects, has expanded to accommodate the creations of an ever-growing number of famous names in international design. Inspired by the art of travel, a heritage of the Maison for over 160 years and reinterpretation of its essential spirit, each Objet Nomade is the expression of a unique combination of designers’ creativity and Louis Vuitton’s unparalleled savoir-faire.
