Designer Marina Hoermanseder in the style questionnaire

by time news

DThe time difference is still in her bones. Marina Hoermanseder has just arrived from Miami with her partner and child, one of the places where the designer, who was born in 1986, would love to live. Her daughter even goes by the name Lottie Zoé Miami – her boyfriend, Paul Mehling, is a former American football player. Hoermanseder grew up in Austria, studied in Berlin and London and founded a fashion label under her name ten years ago, in 2013. She knows how to combine self-marketing and fashion design and thus promote her brand. Her hallmark is the corset. In addition to Lady Gaga, Rihanna and FKA Twigs, former Digital Minister Dorothee Bär (CSU) also wore a dress from her.

What do you eat for breakfast?

Either overnight oats or a homemade buckwheat waffle that I came across during an F. X. Mayr cure and got stuck with. For this I prepare a few bags, store them in the freezer, and in the morning they are just freshly toasted.

Where do you buy your clothes?

Overall. My wardrobe is so diverse, it has everything from designer pieces to second-hand finds to Zara. I try to buy things that last. But I’m also someone who sins and buys junk from time to time.

What is the oldest item of clothing in your closet?

In my closet it’s a Fendi sweater from the 1980s. An heirloom from my mom. The very oldest piece doesn’t hang in my closet, but on my gallery wall in the living room: an 18th-century loincloth from Papua New Guinea. My father bought it for me at an auction house.

When was the last time you wrote a letter by hand?

Recently: Christmas cards for the kindergarten teachers. I also bought vouchers for the Thai massage around the corner. My boyfriend thought it was totally inappropriate, I thought it was cool and they were happy.

What book has impressed you the most in life?

A notebook: A few years ago I asked my father to write me a book with all the quotes and wisdom that he is happy to give me along the way. The book will always be continued. There is no book that I have opened more often. A piece of wisdom would be: The master shines in the scarcity of resources. That’s how it started for me, in my apartment with the help of friends.

How do you find out about world events?

Mainly over the internet. And because I spend so much time on Instagram, I have subscribed to many news channels there. That’s how I get most of it. I would be lying if I said I had time to read a newspaper every day. For me it’s about bullet points, about the most important thing, and social media has become an important channel for me. But you have to know who you are following and whether you can trust the sources.

What’s your favorite small talk topic?

Dogs. I steer every conversation to dogs.
