Podi: Jeevatharani, 16, a student of Podi Uplukkottai School, designed a remote sensor device (Laser Arm Defense Canticap) for disabled people to implement their needs where they are and was selected for the national competition to be held in Delhi.

Jeevatharani, the daughter of Murugapichai, an agricultural laborer in Uplukottai, studied 10th standard in Pachaiyappa High School last year. He designed a device called ‘Laser Arm Defense Candicap’ which uses a laser to operate home appliances such as pan, TV, mixer, grinder, etc. in the district level online competition for ‘Inspire Award’.

As this work was successful, he was selected for the state competition. She won the state-level Inspire Award competition at IIT Chennai in June and was selected for the national-level Inspire Award competition in Delhi on September 14 and 15.
