Monday January 22, around fifty tractors are still present near Carbonne (Haute-Garonne) where farmers have installed a filter dam on this highway linking Toulouse to Bayonne since the previous Thursday. Despite a meeting on Saturday with the regional prefect in Toulouse, the farmers, who denounce the increase in operating costs, are still as determined and are demanding the arrival of Gabriel Attal, the Prime Minister.
The mobilization that started from Toulouse spread across the region and across France, where several blocking actions took place this weekend. This Monday morning, farmers from Tarn-et-Garonne blocked access to the Golfech power plant, after operating blockades on the A20 near Montauban this weekend. Access to the A62 between Toulouse and Bordeaux, the A61 between Toulouse and Narbonne, the RN124 to L’Isle-Jourdain (Gers) and the road to Spain passing through Luchon (Haute-Garonne) have also been targeted this weekend.
Fire at base camp

This Monday morning, firefighters intervened at the base camp of the protest for a fire in the straw wall installed by the demonstrators to block the road. With the help of several agricultural machines and two cannon lances, firefighters quickly contained the fire. “The origin of the disaster is not known”, underline the firefighters of Haute-Garonne but the leader of the movement, Jérôme Bayle, assures “that the fire was started by people with ill intentions”.
