Hannover (dpa) – Despite the increased corona numbers, the second division soccer club Hannover 96 is allowed to play its first home game of the season against Hansa Rostock on Saturday as planned in front of 22,250 spectators.

The Hanover region announced that it would not issue a new general decree for the time being, although the seven-day incidence last exceeded 35 on three consecutive days.

“The recently increased numbers can be attributed with sufficient certainty to facilities with dancing and celebrations,” says the region’s announcement. At the same time, the state of Lower Saxony decided to adapt its Corona ordinance, which will apply from Wednesday, so that districts and urban districts can in future exempt individual areas such as sport from tightening by general decree, if they have demonstrably not contributed to an increase in the incidence of infections.

A prerequisite for attending the Rostock game (Saturday, 1.30 p.m. / Sky) is that the spectators have been vaccinated, tested or recovered. Guest fans from Rostock are also allowed.
