Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky lamented on Friday that his country has been left “alone” to defend itself against the invasion launched by the Russian army.

“They have left us alone to defend our state,” Zelensky said in a video posted on the presidential account. “Who is willing to fight with us? I do not see anyone. Who is ready to give Ukraine a guarantee of NATO membership? Everyone is afraid“, lament.

The Ukrainian president’s questions are known after Joe Biden announced more US economic sanctions against Russian financial entities. Along the same lines, the European Unionafter a summit of its 27 leaders.

The Ukrainian president said, after hearing that Moscow -despite the military offensive- still wants to talk about the neutral status of Ukraine so that it does not join NATO, that he is not afraid.

“We are not afraid to talk to Russia. We are not afraid to talk about security guarantees for our state. We are not afraid to talk about neutral status. But Will we have security guarantees? Which countries will give them to us?“, he asked himself.

In this context, Zelenski maintained that right now it is necessary to talk about the “end of this invasion” and a “ceasefire”.

During his speech, Zelensky reported: “According to preliminary data, unfortunately we have already lost 137 of our heroes, our citizens, ten of them officers. 316 were injured.”

“Today Russia attacked the entire territory of Ukraine. And today our defenders have done a lot,” he added. And he detailed: “The enemy attacks not only military installations, as he claims, but also civilians. They kill people and turn peaceful cities into military targets. This is vile and will never be forgiven.”

Zelensky assured that the attack ordered by Vladimir Putin seeks to remove him. “According to our information, I’m the enemy’s number one target. My family the second. They want to destroy Ukraine politically by destroying the head of state“, he claimed.

He also announced general military mobilization to counter the Russian invasion, according to a decree published on his government’s website.

The measure will affect people subjected to “compulsory military service and reservists” and will be in force for 90 days in all regions of Ukraine, the text specified.

The local administrations, with the help of companies and institutions of “all kinds”, must organize the mobilized people and the requisitioned vehicles in various meeting points and military bases, according to the decree.
