Destiny 2 Players Exploit Bug to Create Overpowered Weapons

Destiny 2 players have discovered one of the most significant bugs in the game’s history, allowing them to create guns with perks that are completely game-breaking. This bug has resulted in players creating weapons that have the potential to ruin activities and PvP matches.

One of the most notable exploits is the ability to put shotgun frames on auto rifles, leading to a weapon that can obliterate opponents in PvP within milliseconds. This drastic reduction in time to kill has caused frustration among players and imbalance in the game. Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, has acknowledged the issue and assured players that they are working on a fix.

Furthermore, players have also been crafting grenade launchers with frames from other weapons, resulting in highly explosive projectiles that can decimate enemies and other PvP players. This glitch has made the Grandmaster Nightfall activity, which is supposed to be challenging, significantly easier. Players can now effortlessly breeze through enemies and bosses, completely undermining the intended difficulty of the PvE environment.

The glitch has also affected Destiny 2’s competitive PvP mode, Trials of Osiris. This weekend, players have the opportunity to earn the sought-after Igneous Hammer weapon as a reward for achieving a flawless victory (winning seven games without a loss). However, due to the weapon crafting glitch, numerous players are now armed with weapons that can easily eliminate opponents, making Trials of Osiris far less challenging than it should be.

What makes this exploit even more problematic is that it can be used to place exotic weapon perks on regular legendary weapons. This capability fundamentally changes how certain guns operate, giving players an unfair advantage and making it feel as though they are cheating.

Bungie is now faced with the challenge of addressing this issue and determining the best course of action to rectify it. Rolling back servers may be necessary, but the duration of the exploit’s existence remains unclear. Additionally, Bungie may need to scan previously crafted weapons to ensure that no overpowered ones remain in the game. Fixing this complex exploit requires comprehensive measures.

Currently, Bungie is actively working on resolving the bug but has not indicated any plans to take Destiny 2 offline for emergency maintenance or server rollback. In a recent statement, Bungie acknowledged the issue and stated, “We’re aware of an issue that allows specific weapon perks to be crafted into other legendary weapons and are investigating a fix, which will result in these weapons being reset in the future. We currently don’t have any plans to disable Trials of Osiris due to this issue.”

It is important to note that Bungie will not be banning players who have utilized the exploit. As per their ban policy, players who discover an exploit will not face in-game restrictions or bans. However, the use of external scripting and network manipulation tools is still considered a bannable offense and will be subject to security review.

Destiny 2 players will have to wait for Bungie to implement the fix and restore balance to the game. In the meantime, the exploit continues to disrupt gameplay, challenging the developer to quickly resolve the issue and restore a fair and enjoyable experience for all players.

[Update, September 15th 5:25PM ET: Bungie has confirmed that they are actively working on resolving the issue.]
