The Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Unity announced, “The arrest of a person accused of attempting to kidnap a child in Tripoli last Thursday, after he lured her through social media.”
The administration said in a statement, “It received a report from the Deterrence Agency to Combat Terrorism and Organized Crime regarding the disappearance of the 11-year-old girl (J.W.D.) from the city of Tripoli, who has not returned home since she left last Thursday at 12 noon.”
The statement added: “After hours of searching and tracking, the Special Tasks Department was able to arrest the accused who lured the girl from Tripoli to Misurata, explaining that he lured her through social media.”
The Special Tasks Department indicated in its statement that “the accused is (Syrian nationality), born in 2001 and is called (A. Q.)”, explaining that “it was also able to identify the owner of the taxi (Azera type – 2007 model – black in colour), who is Libyan nationality and who took the child from Tripoli to the central park in the city of Misurata.”
The statement continued: “After the girl failed to reach the Syrian person who was later arrested, she returned to Tripoli, and on Saturday morning, we found out that she was in Taj Mall in Tajoura, and then she contacted her family and returned to her home safe and sound.”
The Special Tasks Department “thanked the Deterrence Force, the General Intelligence Service, the Internal Security Service, and the Tripoli Criminal Investigation Department for their cooperation in this case.”
She stressed, “Everyone who is exposed to such incidents must inform the security services as soon as possible, so that they can perform their work in the shortest time.”
