Hamas representative in Iran, Khaled Qaddoumi, revealed “details of the last minutes before the assassination of the head of the movement’s political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh.”

“On Tuesday evening, Haniyeh and his accompanying delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the parliament headquarters. After the ceremony, they headed to the Iranian presidency headquarters in response to Pezeshkian’s invitation to a dinner party, and then moved to his residence north of Tehran,” Mehr News Agency quoted Qaddoumi as saying.

He added, “The place of residence was not a secret and was known to many people, and was reserved for important guests coming to the country.”

Al-Qaddoumi said: “After we arrived at the residence late at night, Haniyeh prayed the evening prayer, then we sat and talked about the president’s constitutional oath ceremony and its good atmosphere. He told me directly that many foreign ministers and representatives of countries, some of which do not recognize Hamas, came forward to greet him and exchange greetings with him.”

He added: “We talked about the assassination of Fouad Shukr in Beirut and he said that this is a happy ending for every brother who fights the Zionist entity. After that, Haniyeh went to his room to sleep, according to Al-Qadoumi, and with him was his aide Wassim Abu Shaaban, who was assigned to guard Haniyeh outside his room.”

Al-Qudomi continued, speaking about the last moments in Ismail Haniyeh’s life, saying, “At exactly 1:37, the building was hit by a shock, so I left the place I was in and saw thick smoke. After that, we learned that Hajj Abu al-Abd had been martyred.”

He added: “The shock that happened to the building made me think there was thunder or an earthquake. I opened the window and found no rain or thunder. The weather was hot. We went to the fourth floor where the martyr was and found that the wall and ceiling of the place he was in had fallen and been destroyed.”

Al-Qaddoumi said: “It is clear from the appearance of the place after the attack and what happened to it, and from the body of Ismail Haniyeh, that the targeting was carried out by an aerial projectile, whether it was a missile or a shell.”

Regarding planting a bomb in the room, according to Israeli and American reports, Al-Qaddoumi confirmed that “the facts on the ground deny that,” noting that “the goal is to lift direct responsibility from Tel Aviv to contain the consequences of the incident and respond to it.”

Regarding what is being said about how Israel knew where he was staying, Qaddoumi said: “It is ‘empty talk’, because Haniyeh was on a public visit, and he is a diplomatic figure, as he was the former Prime Minister of Palestine and the leader of Hamas.

Last Wednesday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the killing of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, and one of his companions, as a result of a bombing that targeted their residence in the capital, Tehran. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed that “Iran will make the terrorist occupation regret its cowardly actions.”
