According to production details, the historical lineage links back to when Ojamajo Doremi aired four consecutive television blocks ending in January 2003, followed sequentially by Nadja of the Tomorrow and eventually the debut of the first Precure series in February 2004.
Costume Shifts and Detective Agency Hijinks in Episode 39
During the milestone 39th episode, the core quartet from the Curette Detective Agency find themselves preparing for the town’s inaugural neighborhood Halloween event. While attempting to track down a lost young girl named Hinano and recovering a magical broom belonging to her, the young detectives run into a disguise-wearing adversary named Ageseine.
Because their standard outfits have already been spotted during the pursuit, the detectives decide to adopt fresh disguises to avoid detection. They choose to dress as the apprentice witches from Ojamajo Doremi, donning signature outfits corresponding to the classic magical characters.

We are very happy to realize a collaboration with Ojamajo Doremi, our great senior in the Nichiasa block! Doing an in-universe anime collaboration while each has a different worldview was quite a difficult challenge, but we structured the collaboration around the year 1999, which is a characteristic feature of Detective Precure!, treating Ojamajo Doremi as the TV anime broadcasting at that time.
Because the classic characters appear as fictional television figures within the 1999 setting rather than crossing over literally in the flesh, producer Hiromi Seki reflected on watching staff members who were children in 1999 now helm a new generation of Sunday-morning animation.
