The New York Post reported that the number of illegal immigrants in US Border Patrol detention centers in San Diego is 2.5 times the capacity of the centers.
The newspaper wrote: “The US Border Patrol’s detention centers in the San Diego area on the southern border have more than twice the number of migrants they can handle, and migrants here are thanking President Biden for letting them in.”
She added, “As of yesterday, Friday, there were 1,812 illegal immigrants detained in this center designed to accommodate only 750 people.”
She noted, “Depending on the influx of migrants and the fact that detaining them for more than 72 hours is prohibited, more than 125,000 migrants have been released on the streets of San Diego since December 2023.”
The United States has witnessed record levels of illegal immigration in recent months, as the US Border Patrol recorded 302,000 illegal border crossings last December, which is the largest indicator in one month.
