Traffic department said two officers will be responsible for pedestrian safety

After a “problem on a large scale”, Detran-MS (State Traffic Department of Mato Grosso do Sul) guaranteed that two agents are assigned to pedestrian safety in the “Amigos do Parque” project this Monday (01). This Sunday morning (31), the section was not closed early because none of the agency’s employees showed up for work.
After negotiations, the closure was carried out by Military Policy, but tomorrow the work will be carried out by Detran. “We managed to carry out a relocation, we contacted Sejusp (Secretariat of Justice and Public Security) to provide support tomorrow. The Military Police responded on an emergency basis at around 10am. The closure scheduled for this Monday will be from 7am to 5pm” , assured the Department’s advisors.
Questioned by Campo Grande News, the Detran advisor said that the head of inspection, due to the New Year’s break, was unable to keep the Department’s staff in the city, hence the misunderstanding. “Those who are available are supporting the PRF in the New Year operation”, informed the agency.
Early in the morning, Agetran was on site at the request of private race organizers in the Parque das Nações Indígenas region.
After the end of the race, the cones that marked the route were removed, hampering the flow. Given the lack of staff, parents with children on bicycles or skateboards, people who exercised had to share the space between Avenidas do Poeta and Desembargador José Nunes da Cunha with vehicles that travel normally.
