Representatives from Detran-MS (State Department of Traffic of Mato Grosso do Sul) met with owners of Driver Training Centers yesterday (6) to discuss possible changes in the scheduling of practical exams for licenses, which could improve access for students, avoiding repressed demands.

And as published today (7), Detran is considering changes to practical exams to obtain a CNH (National Driving License) category A (motorcycle) and adding a day for exams in category B (car).

If the change is made, the motorcycle exam will only be held on Wednesday mornings. Friday mornings, when these candidates could previously schedule exams, may be added to the days available to take a practical car exam.

Another possible change is related to the schedule release time, which may no longer be at 9 am, but at 5 pm. Requests are under analysis.

What has been approved by CFCs and students and will be maintained is the provision of extra assistance for practical exams in category B in the morning and afternoon.

Pent up demand – Detran-MS reported that there are approximately 57 thousand driver’s license processes in progress, 20 thousand of which were delayed due to the pandemic and which expire on December 31, 2023.

Collective efforts, an increase in the number of vacancies available during the week, and the inclusion of Saturday in the scheduling schedule are among the measures adopted to help future drivers complete processes opened between 2019 and 2022.
