Like computers, when functionality fails, the organizers of the Detroit Auto Show have hit the restart button, upending the format and schedule of recent editions of what was once perhaps the most important trade show in the world. The Detroit Dealers Association (Dada), the historic organizer, announced today that the Show will take place from Friday, January 10 to Monday, January 20, 2025, in a location (the beginning of the year) that has long been the Show’s strong point, the world’s leading showcase for US, European and Asian innovations. The event returns in January – reads the organizers’ note – “with the goal of providing automakers and partners with a flexible program to debut products and technologies, offering consumers new experiences and innovative vehicles, as well as educational opportunities. Exhibitors will have the flexibility to schedule press conferences and reveals during the show.”


Il Detroit Auto Show 2025 will officially kick off Media Day with a series of media-focused events, including the announcement of the 2025 North American Car Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year (Nactoy) awards. Hot on the heels of Nactoy will be the announcement of the EyesOn Design Awards, which recognize the design of production and concept vehicles that debuted in the past year. Media registration opens on October 1. Also on October 10 will be the Benefit Preview, the event that has raised more than $100 million for children’s initiatives in Southeast Michigan over the past 25 years. The Detroit Auto Show will be open to the public Saturday, January 11 through Monday, January 20, with car experiences, drive-bys, meet-and-greets, music and more. Tickets go on sale October 2.


Industry Days scheduled for Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th Januarywith exclusive access to industry insiders. Industry Days will feature the Mobility Global Forum, the seventh annual AutoMobili-D technology showcase, and Future Innovators, a new program presented by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Office of Future Mobility and Electrification that will bring together more than 1,000 high school and college students.
