A powerful typhoon is sweeping across Asia. Its passage through northern Vietnam has been deadly, with at least 24 fatalities.

The typhoon Yagi has caused at least 24 deaths and 299 injuries in northern Vietnam. This is the strongest typhoon recorded in Asia this year.

The deadly passage of the typhoon also resulted in landslides and flooding, according to authorities’ announcements late Sunday evening (September 8), warning that there is a risk of new floods.

The typhoon, which previously struck China, made landfall on the northeastern coast of Vietnam on Saturday (September 7). It caused power outages and disruptions in telecommunications across various parts of the country, particularly in the provinces of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, according to a statement from the government in Hanoi.
