In Paris, the President of the sub-regional institution, Abdoulaye Diop, discussed it with the President of the Development Assistance Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (CAD/OECD), Carsten STAUR. Held in a difficult sub-regional context, this meeting allowed President Diop to explore the possibilities of cooperation between the UEMOA Commission and the OECD DAC to address development issues. The increase in Public Development Assistance (ODA) and the improvement of the international financial architecture to better meet the needs of States, particularly those in UEMOA, were at the heart of the discussions. President Carsten STAUR highlighted a planned increase in ODA this year, while calling for increased commitment to better use of funding provided by public actors in developed countries. The discussions also made it possible to return to the conclusions of their last meeting which took place on June 23, 2023 and which focused, in particular, on the prospects for cooperation between UEMOA and the DAC/OECD. Capacity building of UEMOA Member States and the Commission on the new criteria for evaluating OECD DAC interventions with a view to increasing the level of aid mobilization was addressed by President Abdoulaye DIOP. As a reminder, these six criteria, adopted in 2019, relate to the relevance, coherence, effectiveness, efficiency, impact and viability of the intervention. President Carsten STAUR reassured of the availability of the OECD Development Assistance Committee to support the Commission and the Member States of the Union in responding to the challenges of the day.
