The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced the recovery of 40 dead bodies and 60 injured people in the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Yunis, south of the Strip, following an Israeli bombardment that targeted the tents of the displaced.

The Civil Defense in Gaza reported that “the Israeli raids targeted a gathering of at least 20 tents in a populated area, using heavy concussion missiles,” noting that “the bombing left craters 9 meters deep.”

“There are entire families that disappeared in the Al-Mawasi massacre in the sand,” said Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Civil Defense in Gaza.

Hamas movement confirmed that “the Israeli army’s commission of the most heinous massacres against the tents of the displaced in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis confirms its approach to the brutal war of extermination,” denying “the presence of its elements in those areas.”

The Israeli bombing by land, sea and air on the Gaza Strip has continued since October 7, killing 40,988 Palestinians and wounding 94,825.

In the West Bank, a number of Palestinians were injured and arrested today, as a result of the Israeli army storming various areas in the West Bank.

Wafa News Agency reported that “the occupation forces stationed at the Hamra checkpoint in the northern Jordan Valley fired tear gas bombs at the Palestinians while they were waiting at the checkpoint, which led to a number of them suffering from suffocation.”

The Israeli army stormed several neighborhoods in the city of Hebron and the towns of Dura and Beit Kahil in its northwest, Beit Rima in Ramallah, Rummana in Jenin, and the Deheishe refugee camp in Bethlehem, and arrested 9 Palestinians, including a child. It also set up a military checkpoint at the entrance to the village of Al-Funduq in Qalqilya, which connects it to the main road leading to Nablus, and detained and searched Palestinian vehicles, which led to obstructing their movement.

In the context, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir launched a sharp attack on President Isaac Herzog, describing his call to form a national unity government in order to return the prisoners as “irresponsible” and serving Hamas propaganda.

In a statement issued by his party, Otzma Yehudit, Ben-Gvir accused Herzog of cooperating with “allegations of the extreme left,” and according to Hebrew media, he stressed that the current government “is working to return the hostages while Hamas is the one holding them and preventing their return.”

The statement said, “The president’s call to form a national unity government is an irresponsible call that cooperates with Hamas’s blood libel propaganda used by the extreme left, as if the current Israeli government is not interested in the return of the hostages to their homes, while the truth is that the murderers from Hamas are the ones holding them.”

He added that “Otzma Yehudit supports the defeat of Hamas and the return of the hostages,” and Ben-Gvir said: “We will continue to oppose any deal that threatens to increase the number of dead and hostages, and we refuse to cooperate in negotiations aimed at blackmailing Israel with concessions that could lead to disaster.”

He called for “increasing military pressure on Gaza and halting the entry of humanitarian aid and fuel until all hostages are released.”
