Germany launches relief projects in Syria worth 60 million euros
Germany launched several relief projects worth 60 million euros in Syria, after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s rule, according to what was stated by Development Minister Svenja Schulze.

“The humanitarian situation of the people in Syria is catastrophic,” Schulze told the RND media group in statements published on Monday. She stressed that “nearly 14 years of war left most parts of the country in a state of devastation, with 90 percent of the population living in poverty and relying on international aid.”

Despite the uncertainty about the future of Syria, Schulze expressed “cautious optimism,” noting that there is an opportunity for positive change, and stressing the need to provide support to achieve this.

She explained that the planned relief projects will be implemented only through United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.

According to the German Development Ministry, 25 million euros will be allocated to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), which will focus on rehabilitating schools and providing psychological support to children who have been exposed to trauma.

In addition, 19 million euros will be allocated to the United Nations Development Programme, which organizes short-term employment opportunities for internally displaced people, such as removing rubble and debris. This funding comes from Germany’s 2024 budget, which has allocated a total of 132 million euros to projects related to Syria.

A famous Egyptian media personality on Al-Julani: He revealed his dictatorship early

Egyptian journalist and parliamentarian Mustafa Bakri criticized the statements of the commander of military operations in Syria, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, which he spoke to Arab media on Sunday.
Bakri wrote a post on his official account on the “X” platform in which he said, “Al-Julani reveals his dictatorship early in a television interview… to leave Syria without a constitution, not even a constitutional declaration, for 3 years.”

He added, “Syria will remain under Al-Julani’s control for 4 years, after which presidential elections will be held in which he will be the one and only candidate, and no faction of his partners will be allowed to have a role, because he sees, astonishingly, that harmony requires his front to monopolize power for 4 years, while the others must drink from the Euphrates.” .

Bakri concluded his post by saying: “Have you seen democracy? Have you realized its bliss? Enjoy its sweetness and wait for more.. The great Syrian people deserve good democratic rule and not a gang of terrorist killers.”

Ahmed Al-Sharaa had spoken about that “the process of writing and preparing a new constitution for Syria may take about 3 years, while the process of organizing elections in the country may take 4 years,” which is the first time he referred to a possible timetable for elections since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad this month.

Al-Sharaa indicated in his speech to the media that the current stage is “a preliminary stage for an interim government with a longer period,” pointing out that quotas in the current period will destroy the transitional period.

Al-Sharaa said that he would announce during the national conference the dissolution of all armed factions in the country and their integration under the umbrella of the Syrian Ministry of Defense, after reaching an agreement with the leaders of the “revolutionary factions.”

After setting its condition for restoring diplomatic relations with Syria… Ukraine sends its Foreign Minister to Damascus

During his visit to Damascus on Monday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sepiga met with the leader of the new Syrian administration, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, according to SANA.

This comes after the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced last week that Kiev is ready to restore diplomatic relations with Syria if its new government retracts the decisions of the Bashar al-Assad regime related to recognizing the annexation of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye to Russia.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhi said: “We will monitor how the new government will behave.” We understand that the former Assad regime admitted to violating Ukraine’s territorial integrity, which is why diplomatic relations were severed. If this policy changes, diplomatic relations will resume.”

The spokesman stressed that if there is a mutual willingness to develop the dialogue, Kiev will take additional steps.
