jpnn.comJAKARTA – Dewa United FC will play the 2024/25 Liga 1 2nd week match against Persib Bandung at the I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Bali, Monday (19/8/2024) evening.
Dewa United coach Jan Olde Riekerink also admitted that he can’t wait to face Persib Bandung. Persib’s status as the defending champion of Liga 1 does not make Riekerink afraid.
The tactician from Sumedang assessed that Dewa United has a chance to beat Persib.
“Arema and Bandung, both have played in the competition (President’s Cup) but we as a team have also been able to get good lessons in the past two weeks,” said Riekerink in a pre-match press conference.
Riekerink said that his team has a chance to win tonight’s match because out of the last 15 matches, the team nicknamed Tangsel Warriors has only lost once against Persija Jakarta.
“We cannot be taken lightly because in the last 15 matches we have only lost once, losing (on) March 2 against Persija,” he said.
In addition, Dewa is also strengthened this season by a number of new players, such as Hugo ‘Jaja’ Gomes, Alexis Messidoro, and Taisei Marukawa.
“We have new players, they still have to adapt and we have players with good quality. And I think Persib Bandung can be a good reflection to measure our strength,” said the man from the Netherlands.
