YouTuber Dex, who is from the UDT (Naval Special Warfare Squadron), has warned against fake advertisements.
On the 23rd, the agency Kick the Hurdle Studio announced through their official Instagram, “Recently, advertisements for illegal gambling games that incorporate technologies such as deepfake and artificial intelligence (AI) by impersonating our artist Dex are being indiscriminately distributed through online communities, YouTube, and SNS (social media).”
“Dex has never advertised illegal gambling game APPs, and the advertisements in question are fake videos created based on videos in which Dex appeared,” they explained. “Please report these illegal fake advertisement videos immediately when you discover them, and we ask that you take special care to prevent damages caused by illegal advertisements.”
Kick the Hurdle Studio said, “We will do our best to protect the rights of artists,” and that they plan to respond strongly through continuous monitoring.
Meanwhile, Dex appeared in MBC TV entertainment show ‘Born to Travel the World Season 3’, wave survival show ‘Blood Game’, and MBC every 1’s ‘I’m Angry Now’ last year. Meanwhile, concerns have been raised that deepfakes (image manipulations) created with AI technology are being used for various crimes. A group that recruited gamblers through gambling broadcasts using deepfake videos synthesized with the faces of famous celebrities and made 380 billion won in illegitimate profits was recently caught by the police. Deepfake is a combination of the words deep learning and fake, and refers to a technology that synthesizes another person’s face into an existing video.
