Sandro Wagner is apparently being considered as a coach by several clubs. He is trying to block out these rumors.

Sandro Wagner, assistant national coach, who is allegedly being considered for Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim, does not want to deal with the rumors surrounding him. “These are things that I have to ignore,” Wagner told Sky: “I currently have a great job that I enjoy.”

The 36-year-old admitted that “you have contacts here and there or talk to one person or another,” but he “doesn’t think that far into the future. I’m a young coach who wants to develop, and I’m in a very good place right now, with really great people.”

Former national player Wagner, who is still tied to the DFB until 2026, is said to be a candidate for the coaching position at several clubs, according to recurring rumors. According to the Bild newspaper, Hoffenheim has asked the German Football Association (DFB) about the availability of its former player. DFB sports director Rudi Völler recently only confirmed “the odd inquiry” for Wagner, without specifically naming Hoffenheim.

At TSG, coach Pellegrino Matarazzo’s contract runs until the end of the season, where the Italian-American has been on the bench since February 2023. However, there was a lot of unrest at the club before the start of the season, and the 1-4 home defeat against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday did not strengthen Matarazzo’s position.
