Berlin – Material shortages, supply chains, rising prices are the triad that is driving the economy these days. Markus Reckling is the head of DHL Express in Germany. The logistician has sat in a number of crisis teams to maintain supply chains, while there was great uncertainty around it, especially at the beginning of the pandemic. In an interview with the Berliner Zeitung, he recalled the importance of global structures – and how the group intends to position itself within the scenarios of climate change.
Berlin newspaper: As a logistics company, especially during the pandemic, you are very close to a topic that was and is considered the most sensitive cog in the global economy: closely coordinated supply chains. Your operating result has been discussed very optimistically by analysts in the current calendar year. How did that come about during the crisis?
