DHL Express will invest 80 million euros in the construction of its new international urgent transport hub at the Airport of The fieldwhich it expects to be operational in the first quarter of 2025.

The company considers that this facility is “essential” for urgent shipments by Catalan companies, both import and export.

This new hub will be built on a 28,500 square meter plot, on which 10,000 square meters of warehouse will be built. The company will also have an operational mezzanine of 7,500 square meters and 3,500 square meters of offices.

The construction project also contemplates the inclusion of two new belts, an automatic one for parcels with a capacity to classify 10,000 pieces per hour, and another for “flyers” with a capacity for 7,500 pieces per hour.

The new hub will have a total processing capacity of more than 20,000 pieces per hour and will have 4 fingers to service more than 120 delivery vans.

The director of DHL Express Spain, Miguel Borrás, explained that the company works with more than 20,000 clients in Spain, most of them SMEs.

“Many need help and advice to open up beyond our borders. The new hub in Barcelona will be essential in this objective, helping companies to be more competitive in international markets”.

Currently, DHL Express Spain has 3 operational hubs, located in Madrid, Barcelona and Vitoria, which operate as connection hubs with the company’s international network.

Added to this are six national connections in Alicante, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago de Compostela, Seville, Valencia and the Canary Islands.

The company has 6 of its own aircraft that make 46 daily flights and cover 17 commercial routes.
