Dhoni, Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘credit card’ fraud of several lakhs: 5 people arrested

Due to the development of information technology, most of the people have switched to digital mode of money transactions. As a result, cybercrime is on the rise.

In this situation, a gang from Delhi used the bank card details of cinema and cricket celebrities to get fake credit cards and cheated them for several lakhs.

The gang got to know the bank card details of the celebrities through the GST ID numbers from the website and through that got credit cards in the names of the celebrities and engaged in fraud.

The gang used the names of Bollywood stars Abhishek Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Madhuri Dixit, Emraan Hashmi and famous cricketer Dhoni to purchase credit cards from Pune-based company ‘Onecard’.

The gang used some of the credit cards to purchase goods worth Rs 21.32 lakh before the credit card issuing company ‘OneCard’ caught wind of the fraud.

When the scam came to light, the company immediately lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police. The police have registered a case and started intensive investigation. Following this, the police arrested 5 people from Delhi who were involved in this fraud. The police have registered a case against them and are actively investigating.

Regarding the scam, the police said, “The gang got the bank card details of celebrities from the website, knowing well that the first 2 digits of the GST ID numbers are the state code and the next 10 digits are the bank card number.

In the same way, the gang also obtained the Aadhaar card details and applied for the credit card along with their photos along with the name and date of birth of the celebrities. Relying on that, ‘OneCard’ has also provided them with credit cards with a credit limit of up to Rs.10 lakhs. We are continuing to investigate the matter,” he said.
