The 16th IPL will feature 10 teams. The 20-over cricket tournament will start in April next year and will be held for two and a half months. The mini-auction of players for this will be held next month (December) on 23rd in Kochi. The IPL asked each team to submit the list of retained and released players by November 15 (yesterday). The Executive Council had imposed a penalty.
According to the submitted list which was published yesterday Kolkata Knight Knights released 16 players and Mumbai Indians released 13 players.
Wayne Bravo, Robin Uthappa, Adam Milne, Hari Nishant, Chris Jordan, Bhagat Verma, KM Asif, N. Jagatheesan have been dropped from the Chennai Super Kings team. In this, Uthappa has retired from cricket. The team management did not want to retain 39-year-old all-rounder Wayne Bravo (Rs 4.4 crore) as his bowling and batting were not what they used to be. This ends Bravo’s 11-year association with the Chennai team.
