The French Romane Dicko and Julia Tolofua won the two bronze medals in the category of +78 kg of the Grand Slam of judo of Paris, Sunday in Bercy.

Dicko, the new world champion in the category, lost in the quarter-final against the Turkish Kayra Sayit before winning her repechage fight against the Dutch Marit Kamps. In the match for bronze, the 23-year-old judoka, winner of the tournament in 2020 and finalist last year, dominated another Turk, Hilal Ozturk, by immobilization.

“It stings phew!” Reacted Dicko about his defeat in the quarterfinals. “Unfortunately, I was not at the level during this fight, but I managed to come back to get a medal so I’m still happy.”

Also beaten in the quarterfinals, Julia Tolofua dismissed another Frenchwoman, Léa Fontaine, in repechage before beating Sayit, the winner of Dicko, in the other fight for bronze.
