Jatiya Party chairman said that our leader Pallibandhu Hussain Muhammad Ershad was detained in CMH in the name of medical treatment. A ridiculous case kept me out of politics for over four months. We wanted to hold a press conference to boycott the election, everything was ready. But our office is cordoned off by members of various law enforcement agencies and various agencies. We have not been allowed to announce the withdrawal of elections – everyone knows that. Now it is being said that in the 2014 election we were forced to participate in the election. But even though BNP did not contest the 2014 national elections, it participated in local government elections. BNP also participated in the 2018 elections. BNP MPs had actively participated in Parliament for four years. If the Jatiya Party is forced to go to the 2024 election, if the Awami League election is legitimized, then did BNP not legitimize the Awami League election by participating in the 2018 national election and 2014 local election?
It is God’s mercy that Sheikh Hasina has left the country. Dictatorship has ensured Hasina’s downfall by letting the students and mobs of this country get their chests in front of the bullets. There is no precedent of such a big movement in the history of Bangladesh. There is no history of so much torture and killings in the movement in our country. Our brave sons have ensured the downfall of tyranny with their lives, which we could not. If Sheikh Hasina had not fallen, a one-party government system would have been established. He commented that there was only one party in the country.
