Jatiya Party Chairman Gholam Mohammad Quader said that Jatiya Party was forced to participate in the 2024 election due to the threats of the ruling party. Did not legitimize the election of the League?

Gholam Mohammad Quader made this comment in the speech of the chief guest at the Jatiya Motar Sramik Party’s discussion meeting at the Jatiya Party chairman’s office auditorium on Tuesday.

Secretary General of Jatiya Party was present at the exchange meeting with Jatiya Motar Sramik Party. Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Presidium Member and Additional Secretary General Mir Abdus Sabur Asud, Adv. Md. Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, Atiqur Rahman Atiq, Monirul Islam Milan, Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan, Advisor Engineer Monir Ahmed, Engineer Mainur Rabbi Chowdhury Rumman, Vice Chairman Sultan Ahmed Salim, Ahad U Chowdhury Shaheen, Joint Secretary General Md. Samshul Haque, Editorial Board Member MA Razzak Khan, Engineer Elahan Uddin, Joint Editor Ed. Abu Taib, Mahmud Alam, Samresh Mandal Manik, Hafez Qari Isaruhullah Asif, central leader Md Zakir Hossain, Kazi Mamun, AKM Nuruzzaman Zaman.

Jatiya Party chairman said that our leader Pallibandhu Hussain Muhammad Ershad was detained in CMH in the name of medical treatment. On his instructions, I announce the election boycott. 270 people of Jatiya Party including me boycott the election. I did not go to the 2014 parliament. The Awami League government forced Hussain Muhammad Ershad to go to the parliament under various pressures including the murder case of Manzoor. But even though BNP did not participate in the 2014 elections, BNP participated in several elections including Upazila Parishad and Municipal Council.

He said that in the 2018 elections, almost all parties including BNP participated in the elections. We also participated in that election. We did not want to go to the 2024 elections. We are forced to go to the polls. It was Awami League that created division in our party. They unjustly allowed a group to hold council in the name of our party and symbol. A ridiculous case kept me out of politics for over four months. We wanted to hold a press conference to boycott the election, everything was ready. But our office is cordoned off by members of various law enforcement agencies and various agencies. We have not been allowed to announce the withdrawal of elections – everyone knows that. Now it is being said that in the 2014 election we were forced to participate in the election. But even though BNP did not contest the 2014 national elections, it participated in local government elections. BNP also participated in the 2018 elections. BNP MPs had actively participated in Parliament for four years. If the Jatiya Party is forced to go to the 2024 election, if the Awami League election is legitimized, then did BNP not legitimize the Awami League election by participating in the 2018 national election and 2014 local election?

It is God’s mercy that Sheikh Hasina has left the country. Dictatorship has ensured Hasina’s downfall by letting the students and mobs of this country get their chests in front of the bullets. There is no precedent of such a big movement in the history of Bangladesh. There is no history of so much torture and killings in the movement in our country. Our brave sons have ensured the downfall of tyranny with their lives, which we could not. If Sheikh Hasina had not fallen, a one-party government system would have been established. He commented that there was only one party in the country.

To save the transport owners and workers, the GM said that the transport owners demand that the fare of the public transport increases due to the road subscription. Public transport drivers and helpers are hired by labor unions, owners have no authority. If anyone protests, his life becomes risky. In the current political situation, transport owners and workers must be freed from the hands of extortionist gangs. Reforms in the transport sector have also become imperative.
