Did Garrix and U2 copy the Nuclear Tactical Penguins? Debate on the web

Do you like the official anthem of the European Football Championship? “We are the people” marks a particular collaboration between Martin Garrix, dj and dutch producer, and two rock legends: Bono e The Edge, respectively voice and guitar of the famous U2.

Commissioned by Uefa to compose the anthem for the event, Garrix turned to the two Irishmen to ask for their willingness to collaborate and was the first to be favorably surprised by the positive response. Bono also wrote the lyrics for the song, while The Edge added the guitar parts, which some remind “Where the streets have no name”, an old success of U2 which, in fact, Rai alternates with “We are the people” in the breaks for advertising.

But on the net there is another similarity that many have noticed: a part of “We are the people” according to some it recalls “Ringo Starr”, a song presented by the Nuclear Tactical Penguins at the Sanremo Festival in 2020.

“Call me Albano di Albino”, he wrote on social media Riccardo Zanotti, singer of the Bergamo band born in Alzano Lombardo, a stone’s throw from Albino. The reference, definitely ironic, is to the cause that Albano he sent to the King of Pop Micheal Jackson, highlighting how his “Will you be there?”, published inl 1991, resembled “The swans of Balaka”, recorded by Albano and Romina in 1987.

From the denunciation of Albano a very long legal case began, with alternating victories, before a out-of-court settlement made the final ruling of the Supreme Court useless. In this case, apparently, a laugh and a little unexpected promotion will suffice.
