Shakira makes people sit up and take notice with an interview. She recently “sacrificed a lot for love,” said the singer. Not the only tip against her ex Gerard Piqué.
Shakira has “put her career on hold” to be with her former partner Gerard Piqué while he pursues his football career. The 47-year-old now says this in an interview. The Colombian pop star and the former Spanish professional footballer were together for 11 years before announcing their separation in June 2022. They have two children: sons Milan and Sasha, aged eleven and nine.
Shakira, who will now release her first album in seven years with “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”, said in an interview with the British newspaper “The Sunday Times” about the time since the release of “El Dorado” in 2017: ” For a long time I put my career on hold to be at Gerard’s side so he could play football.”
She continued: “A lot was sacrificed for love.” Her upcoming album represents “the transformation of pain into creativity, of frustration into productivity, of anger into passion, of vulnerability into resilience.” The singer added: “There were so many parts of my life that were crumbling before my eyes and I had to rebuild myself in a way, pick up the bones from the ground and put them all together. And the glue that held it all together was the Music.”

Shakira’s album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”, translated roughly as “Women Don’t Cry Anymore”, is due to be released on March 22nd. The singer’s twelfth studio album contains many new songs and a remix, in addition to some already known songs, it was said in advance. This includes, among other things, the diss track against her ex published in January 2023.
In “BZRP Music Sessions #53” it says, among other things, in the direction of Piqué: “You swapped a Rolex for a Casio, a Ferrari for a Twingo”. Even back then, Shakira openly showed her hurt about the separation, which is also said to have come about because of Piqué’s affair with 25-year-old Clara Chia.
