Did Lord of the Rings and House of the Dragon live up to expectations?

by time news

Two subsidiary series occupied our screens in recent months – one is the sequel to “Game of Thrones”, “House of the Dragon”, and the other, the sequel to Lord of the Rings, “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”.

Amazon’s “Lord of the Rings” sequel series – “The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power” is coming to an end and the question that arises is whether it lived up to the expectations of the close fans of the series and the original film. Walla’s culture reporter Eitan Kaprov spoke with Iris Kol 103fm about the issue, and checked whether she lived up to expectations.

First, the two discussed The Lord of the Rings, which recently ended its season. According to him, “This feeling, I think a lot of people feel it because it felt like this whole season was an exposition and when it started to be interesting it suddenly ended. Look, Amazon will come and say that if they left me with a feeling of anticipation then they did their part, if you stayed with the feeling of more, so for them it’s good.”

As for the main theme of the series, he said that “I do think that you can talk a lot about this season, but I think that what Amazon tried to do, and I think the whole season is characterized by this, beyond the very, very large world building that they had to do and it’s really difficult to establish so much Characters and places in eight episodes, even though they are quite long. I think they played on a secret here, let’s put it this way – there is a very big secret that goes on this whole season and this mystery keeps getting stronger until it reaches its solution in the last episode. I think this game really succeeded.”

He also emphasized that “there was a lot of talk about it and there were a lot of guesses to solve this puzzle. It felt like some of the characters or the stories were a little neglected in favor of this big thing. I hope that next season they will be much more focused and we will have other characters and more stories.”

Regarding the claims of many who said that they did not connect with the series due to the extensive preoccupation with the Elven characters, he replied: “Fantasy is a difficult genre, not everyone connects with this thing, you need imagination and you need patience for all the dwarves and creatures. This stage within this world of The Lord of the Rings, really takes place in what which is a more dramatic part of the gods.”

On the other hand, he noted that “I think that the way the series was actually built, the way it left us the soldiers on the field before the so-called end of the season, next season it will be more balanced, we will see more than the dwarves, we will see more than the humans. Because I think that the elves really were here Part of some story they were involved in and they should have been given more emphasis.”
