Salem: A young man beat his wife to death with a cricket bat after he could not get a car as a dowry. The incident took place in Salem, Tamil Nadu. The deceased has been identified as Dhanasree, 26, of Mullai Nagar, Salem. Dhanasree’s husband Keerthiraj (31) was arrested by the police. After being beheaded, Keerthiraj tried to hang himself and turn his death into a suicide.
Keerthiraj and Dhanasree got married three years ago. The couple recently moved out of the family home. With this, Keerthiraj’s harassment started demanding dowry. His cruelty was to demand a car and more jewelry.
Keerthiraj informed his wife and family that Dhanasree had committed suicide the other day. Dhanasree’s head was found injured when her parents arrived at the hospital. He then lodged a complaint with the police. The post-mortem report also confirmed the death by beheading. The information about the brutal murder came out after Keerthiraj was taken into custody and questioned.
The two had a quarrel last day over not getting a car as dowry. During the fight, Keerthiraj took a cricket bat and hit Dhanasree. He informed the neighbors after tying a rope around the neck of the deceased Dhanasree. Salem police are preparing to take Keerthiraj into custody and interrogate him in detail.
