That question remains unanswered 20 days after his murder, and on Monday Judge Vladislava Tsarigradska and Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov indirectly confirmed it. She was threatened by the Notary back in 2020 at a courtroom hearing. She was later interrogated at the GDBOP as a victim, and today she is guarded by the Ministry of Justice. I am sure that Bojanov was a secret collaborator and had a leading leader from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who was in the Third Regional Office and was recently released. There are documentary traces, announced judge Vladislava Tsarigradska in the morning block of Nova TV.
Hours later, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov neither denied nor confirmed this information. Whether Martin Bojanov-Notariusa was an associate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be clarified during the pre-trial proceedings. The supervising prosecutor has the right to request such information, said Minister Stoyanov and added that it will be provided to him if necessary. The topic of the umbrella over the agents (part-time assistants) of the Ministry of the Interior has been around since the 90s. Back then, many of the iconic crime bosses flaunted it. For the ir activity, they received special cards, and many of them had their documents discovered after their murders. However, the underworld police agency is not immune to arrests and charges. These people help with information to operatives from the criminal circles, because of which their activities are often compromised.
The information about them is not public and is known to a limited circle in the hierarchy of the Ministry of the Interior. It is also not clear whether Martin Bojanov was not an anonymous or protected witness of the prosecution in the high-profile cases of a decade ago. Unlike the last 20 years, now Bojanov’s name is directly involved in two investigations. The first one they failed to charge him with because they killed him is for an organized crime ring for money laundering, property fraud and threats to magistrates. The second is about the assassination attempt on him. Minister Stoyanov did not specify in which of the two pre-trial proceedings the prosecution can request information on whether he was an associate of the Ministry of the Interior.
About the close contacts of Martin Notarius with policemen, including senior officers from GDBOP until 2020, it became clear after his murder. There is evidence of this in the investigation against him, which began in the anti-mafia service in June 2021. Before that, when his private club next to the closed specialized criminal court was still functioning, police cars were spotted in front of it. In the same way, years ago, a female patrol guard also guarded the restaurant “Osemte djujeta” of the other lobbyist in the judiciary – the accused, but disappeared without a trace, former investigator Petyo Petrov-Pepi Evroto.
In addition to the police cars in front of the “SS Club”, the one in which the Notary was riding was equipped with a blue jar. With it, he entered the yard of the specialized criminal court, and was a frequent visitor to the building, according to witnesses in the case against him . Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov did not commit to the information about police cars in front of the Notary’s club in the past and announced that an investigation had been assigned to the case, which has not been completed. He categorically denied that there was a leak of information to Martin Bojanov when he was the director of the GDBOP during the investigation against the Notary.
In May 2021, Kalin Stoyanov became the director of GDBOP, proposed by the then Minister of the Interior in the official cabinet, Boyko Rashkov. Then the investigation of the Anti-Corruption Fund has just been published and victims of Bojanov arrive in the minister’s office. These are Ivayla Bakalova, to whom he offers to pay 100,000 euros to release her husband from custody, the judge Vladislava Tsarigradska, threatened by him, the Greek businessmen from “Danaos International”, the ex-wife of the Notary Adriana. Minister Rashkov assigned a data check to GDBOP, which was later sent to the prosecutor’s office. Thus began the investigation against Bojanov. However, Rashkov claims that information was leaked to the Notary, because after questioning his ex-wife, who suffered from him, he stopped her in front of the GDBOP building and threatened her.
Already at the first meeting of the temporary commission in the parliament for the activity of the Notary, it became clear that, in addition to the prosecutor’s office and the court, he also had solid contacts in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This is also written in the anonymous report on him, which was received by the chairman Nikola Minchev and distributed to the deputies. However, there are no names of active police officers, only judges and prosecutors.
They are still doing examinations on his phones, the court allowed access to the traffic data
The Sofia City Court has denied the prosecution access to the traffic data from the phones of the shot Martin Bojanov-Notarius. This is clear from the response of Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov to MPs Nadezhda Yordanova and Bozhidar Bojanov. This happened already on February 1 – the day after the murder of the Notary. Then, the SDVR proposed to take the data from the victim’s phones, and the prosecution requested this from the court. Traffic data from the Notary’s devices carries information about who he talked to, including on mobile applications, where he moved according to the cells of the mobile operators and much more. After the first refusal, the prosecution submitted a second request to the court. It is from February 6. According to Minister Stoyanov’s information, the deputies have not yet issued a ruling on it. However, the court specified that the second request was granted because, unlike the first, it was motivated and supported by law. Two phones belonging to Martin Bojanov were seized during the investigation, it is clear from the response of the Minister of the Interior in accordance with the procedure of parliamentary control. A technical expertise has been assigned to them, which is not yet ready. The Anti-Corruption Fund said last week that the Notary used 4 or 5 phones and wondered why only two were seized.
They want punishment for the resigned Nevena Zartova because of the case against Pepi Evroto
The head of the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, Iliana Kirilova, asked the SCC to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Nevena Zartova. Last week, she resigned as head of the district prosecutor’s office after another investigation into her activities, this time for reports and files related to Martin Bojanov-Notariusa. Zartova confirmed that she knew him and that he visited her office to testify as a witness. Now the leadership of the prosecutor’s office wants the personnel to punish her because of the case against Petyo Petrov-Pepi Evroto. It started in the district prosecutor’s office in May of this year, and then it was seized in the city prosecutor’s office and terminated. According to Kirilova, her colleague committed several serious violations. First, she self-reported on an Internet publication that contained no evidence of a crime.
