Double or triple payment: How is it calculated?
The article 75 of the LFT establishes that workers who work on official holidays must receive additional payment. This means:
- Normal daily salary: This is the regular payment for your day.
- Double additional salary: Because it is a holiday, the equivalent of double your daily salary is added.
In total, if you worked December 25you should receive triple your daily salary for that day.
Example:
If your daily salary is $300.
$300 (for your regular day)
$600 (for working on a holiday: additional double pay)
Total: $900
What to do if you do not receive this payment?
If your employer does not comply with this obligation, you can:
- Talk to your human resources area or employer to clarify the situation.
- Go to the Federal Attorney for the Defense of Labor (PROFEDET) for legal guidance and support.
