Munich – Campino on the Alphorn. Drummer Vom in lederhosen, Kuddel with a traditional hat: Nanu, what’s going on there? The Toten Hosen enter Bavaria, more precisely: the beautiful Schliersee and the town of the same name (almost 7000 inhabitants, district of Miesbach).

For 14 days, the Düsseldorf band practiced with the local Well brothers and cabaret legend Gerhard Polt (81, lives in Schliersee) in a relaxed manner in the Oberland. The result was the crossover program “Forever – a cultural impertinence”. Great fun for all fans – and the pants themselves.

“Thank you Schliersee,” Campino shouted in front of just 250 fans in the local farmer’s theater in a sweaty 30 degrees on Friday evening at the start of the tour.

Before that, he had bought a pair of lederhosen in a costume shop, and the other band members also dressed in Bavarian style. Cultural Appropriation? Yes, of course, and that’s a good thing, says the band and also expresses this cultural “imposition” on stage.

Campino blows the alphorn, the band members of the Toten Hosen accompany the Well brothers with Bavarian Gstanzln so sensitively and Karl, Stoffel and Michael Well join in with harp and trumpet in the classic Hosen songs “Love Song” and “Laune der Natur”.

“Everyone plays with everyone, you really do it together,” says the band.

The Hosen, the Well brothers and Polt have known each other since 1986, when a whole area demonstrated against the Wackersdorf recycling plant (WAA) and they attended the big protest concert and have been friends ever since.

Her message today: musicians in particular seek and need cultural appropriation, they use others to develop themselves. You don’t have to like costumes – but banning them is the wrong way, Campino told the dpa. According to the Düsseldorfer, carnival has always offered the chance to slip into a different role. “Carnival is there to swap roles.”

Example in concert: The 80s classic “Forever Young” by Alphaville, performed by the Prussian-Bavarian combo who agree: “Some are like water, some are like the heat, some are a melody and some are the beat” (Eng. Some are like water, some like the heat, some are a melody and some are the beat).

Gripping, thrilling, brilliant!

The time at Schliersee remains unforgettable for everyone. Campino even went to play tennis from time to time and was in the beer garden. Die Toten Hosen in touch with an entire town. And when practicing with the Well brothers, Prussian work discipline was also dispensed with.

Just a long lunch break. And then, according to Campino, at 4 p.m. practicing more complicated passages: “We were back in the lake at a quarter past four. It was great, thank you. We will not forget the time with you and will definitely come back if you don’t chase us away forever after this evening.”

A declaration of love to a whole place, to a region, to Bavaria!

And that of a Fortuna Dusseldorf fan who once composed the song “I would never go to FC Bayern”. In the SZ interview, Campino recalled Uli Hoeneß’s reaction to the song at the time: “This is the dirt that our society will choke on…” Campino today: “What can I say? We haven’t been to jail yet…”

As usual, Campino banged everything out on stage

But now love for Bayern (not the club) dominates. The Hosen even express their affection for the Oberland in the form of a song: “Schliersee, Schliersee, when will I finally see you again..?!” Tuba.

Also on site as a spectator was double Olympic champion and ex-ski racer Markus Wasmeier (59). He to BILD: “I think that’s cool. The combination of all three is sensational.”

Who also delivered: Gerhard Polt as Tyrolean tourism director, interviewed by reporter Campino from Radio Düsseldorf. The stage instance showed energy, speed and still had breath for a dance performance.

What a terrific performance, what a plea – for cultural appropriation!

In any case, Campino will give away his lederhosen to his son at some point, in line with Bavarian tradition, according to which the lederhosen are often inherited.

And the best news for all fans: according to the website, there are still a few tickets etc. available. for Berlin, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, directly on dietotenhosen.de.
