At 6:08 pm, the volunteer fire department Waidhofen/Thaya was informed about a pollutant operation in the center of Waidhofen. The reason: Capacity leakage in an underground car park on the Raiffeisen promenade.
Shortly after driving from his parking space in the underground car park, the Audi driver noticed that his engine was leaking fluid and had already made a short track in the underground car park. He stopped his vehicle and was able to solve the cause together with the breakdown service ÖAMTC which was called to help. To clean up the leaking diesel, the driver called the emergency number of the fire department and asked for support from the Waidhofen/Thaya fire department.
Shortly after the alarm was raised, 12 members of the city’s fire department went to the nearby underground car park. An oil binding agent was immediately applied to the escaping fuel, binding the diesel. The binding agent was then added again and the road surface cleaned.
The operation was terminated at 6:33 pm
