The online global distribution company, Digi-Key Electronicsexpanded the product inventory during the year 2022, following the signing of distribution agreements with 550 new suppliers who joined the programs Digi-Key Marketplace and-Fulfilled by Digi-Key of the company. Following the new agreements, the stock of components on the company’s website was increased by approximately 75,000 SKUs. “We are determined to be the supplier with the largest variety of electronic components in all areas,” said Vice President of Supplier Management, David Stein.

As part of this strategy, it inaugurated at the end of 2022 a new automated warehouse, the construction of which began in 2018, which adds to the company’s logistics center a storage area of ​​more than 204,000 square meters, and triples the company’s previous delivery rate (27,000 packages per day). The new facility is fully automatic, and includes a double conveyor system that ensures that work will not stop in the event of a malfunction in one of them. The total length of the conveyors reaches about 27 miles, when the average route of a component inside the building, from the shelves to the shipping package, reaches a length of about 975 meters.

Among the new suppliers who joined the company’s distribution system in the last year: AirBorn, Endress+Hauser, EPC Space and Schneider Electric. Longstanding suppliers such as Amphenol have increased the number of SKUs that Digi-Key distributes for them. The Digi-Key company from the town of Thief River Falls in Minnesota, USA, is a global distributor of electronic components that supplies approximately 13.4 million products from approximately 2,300 manufacturers, of which approximately 2.6 million components are in stock and available for immediate delivery.

The company provides additional resources for engineers, including EDA and planning tools, data sheets, reference designs, content to deepen knowledge and more. At the beginning of the week, she announced a special catalog called Boards Guide which she prepared in collaboration with the online magazine Make, for makers and development teams. The guide includes a comparative review of more than 150 cards, such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, FPGA cards and 79 different microcontroller cards. Among other things, the company has developed an AR application that allows you to view information and products from different angles and at different levels of close-up.
