BOLZANO. Digital literacy seems to be a crucial challenge for the future, in a broad sense: this is the manifesto of the initiative promoted by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy – the creation of educational materials and the implementation of awareness campaigns relating to the confrontation with the media and the digital world oriented towards minors, the “media education”.

1.7 million euros allocated, the recipients will be companies that operate as media service providers, as leading entities of a partnership which must necessarily also include a third sector body and a company providing video sharing platforms.

“This is also an opportunity for businesses, educational institutions and associations in South Tyrol to promote targeted projects for the use of digital media”, commented the President of the Provincial Communications Committee Judith Gögele, “Digital communication has become an integral part of young people’s lives, so it is even more important that initiatives that convey skills in this area are supported with state funds.”

The projects target minors from 8 to 18 years of age, but they can also address a secondary audience made up of people who work to protect minors: parents, educators and teachers, operators. According to the announcement, the contribution can cover 80% of the eligible costs for the implementation, up to a maximum of 340,000 euros.

“I hope that this opportunity will also be taken up in South Tyrol: we are available to provide further information”, Gögele concluded. Applications for access to the contribution must be submitted by the lead company by 12:00 on 30 August 2024.
