Digital Municipality supports Guatemalan children with technology

After one year of operation of the initiative Digital Municipality with Bam and the support of the Sergio Paiz Andrade Foundation —Funsepa—the results of the project were presented. Impact of the Digital Municipality in Alta Verapaz schools

Digital Municipality is an initiative of Funsepa that Bam has joined to open new spaces where Guatemalan children can have access to technology, thus promoting the development of communities in the country. Currently, with the collaboration of Bam, 30 educational centers have been equipped in Santa Cruz Verapaz, Alta Verapazwith a total of 368 installed devices, including 247 desktop computers, 70 new tablets, 38 laptops, 11 servers and 2 solar panels.

In this way, Bam and Funsepa have made a difference in public system schoolsallowing thousands of children to learn how to use innovative tools, benefiting their future by creating opportunities that they can take advantage of when they are older. The impact extends to more than 5,000 students in the municipality, a source of pride for our country.

In addition to working to provide access to technology for Guatemalan children, the initiative is also responsible for train 126 teachers in areas such as basic equipment maintenance, reading and writing, mathematics and intermediate-level technology. This is how they can ensure that they contribute to better education for the youth of our country, a population that will determine how society is built in the coming years.
