(24 News) Member of National Assembly of Pakistan People’s Party Sharmila Farooqui has said that the government is going to make a law, but there is no road map.
The meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT and Telecom was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Aminul Haq. The agenda of Digital Nation Pakistan Bill 2024 was discussed in the meeting.
Chairman Committee Aminul Haque said that yesterday the members wanted to give time to everyone regarding the bill, if anyone has anything to say regarding this bill, they can tell.
Committee member Sharmila Farooqui said that you are going to make the law, there is no road map, nothing is clear from your words.
Umar Ayub said that why are we doing so much in a hurry in the digital nation plan? Don’t be so quick, call the experts, it should be discussed further.
Mahesh Kumar said that there is concern about passing the bill in such haste, the real basis is connectivity, after that create and digitize the authority.
Sadiq Memon said that more time should be given on the bill and consultation is needed, it is still not known why internet speed is slow, common man wants internet with better speed.
Pauline Baloch said that the secretary told that IT is a matter of provinces, so can we legislate on it? All stakeholders must be consulted on this, ensure everyone’s input.
Chairman Committee Aminul Haque said that it is my responsibility to take all the committee members along.
In the meeting, the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima gave a briefing that this bill was written by my hand, it was not copied and pasted from anywhere, if everything is to be looked at from the point of view of surveillance, digitization will not be possible.
The chairman committee has postponed the bill till the next session considering the opinion of the members.
