The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitar Glavchev welcomed the diplomatic officials during the traditional reception on the occasion of the Day of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Service – July 19, and the 145th anniversary of its foundation, which took place today at the “Boyana” Residence, announced the Ministry of foreign affairs.

“Our diplomatic service, with its network of over 100 foreign representations and permanent missions to international organizations, more than 90 honorary consuls around the world, defends Bulgaria’s interests and authority on the international stage with dignity,” emphasized the foreign minister. Dimitar Glavchev emphasized that as Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, his priority is to ensure a stable and sustainable executive power that will successfully lead Bulgaria through predictability, openness and consistency in foreign policy and in accordance with the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic path.

“I cannot fail to note that one of the main tasks we tackled was the holding of fair and transparent elections abroad. I can say with satisfaction that the vote abroad, despite the difficulties we had to overcome, passed normally and without violations. Once again, I express my special gratitude to all the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the other departments and the Bulgarian communities abroad who made this possible,” the Prime Minister pointed out.

“I highly appreciate your work and thank you for your professionalism and efforts. I am grateful that you perceive your work as a duty and a vocation, and not as a formal official duty”, the foreign minister added, thanking the international partners and the accredited ambassadors in our country.

In conclusion, the prime minister stated that our national interests, combined with European and Euro-Atlantic values, must continue to be defended, as well as the rights and interests of our compatriots.

The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, the Vice President Iliana Yotova, His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Danail, ministers, people’s representatives, members of the diplomatic corps, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, journalists, members of the public and guests.
