President Dina Boluarte arrived undercover at the building where the office of her lawyer Mateo Castañeda operates, who was already under preliminary detention, and while police and prosecutors carried out the extension of the raid, according to official sources cited this Sunday by Latina and Cuarto Poder .

The president’s arrival, which took place last Saturday at 9:15 a.m., went so unnoticed that even the neighbors did not notice her presence, even though she was accompanied by her security. For his transfer, Boluarte used the same vehicle that former president Pedro Castillo (2021-2022) used to travel to Sarratea’s house, in Breña, the site of multiple meetings not officially registered and where, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, events were planned. illicit.

While the agents were gathering documentation regarding the investigation that links the lawyer to an alleged criminal network headed by the presidential brother, Dina Boluarte knocked on the door, but upon finding herself face to face with the police, she chose to leave immediately.

The search was initially scheduled for office 702 of the Miraflorino building, the regular location of Castañeda’s office. However, upon observing that the lawyer also used office 703, an extension of the judicial measure was requested.

“At approximately 9:15, they rang the doorbell of the property in the process of being raided. Upon opening the door, PNP Captain Mogrovejo Ramos Renán was surprised to see the President of the Republic, the same one who, upon noticing the police presence, went to the elevator,” the registration extension order reads.

Jean Pajuelo, Secretary of Strategic Communication and Press of the Presidency, confirmed the unusual visit of Boluarte, who was protected by his personal escort. Likewise, he indicated that the purpose was to coordinate details of his legal defense with lawyer Eduardo Barriga, related to a tax investigation that is ongoing.

“As for who will assume his defense in the recent investigation, given that he received notification from the Public Ministry last Friday night, it remains to be seen who will exercise his legal sponsorship,” Pajuelo said in a communication sent to Latina.

The ruler’s agenda is public and any presidential transfer must be coordinated with Intelligence agents, who have a specific plan to protect the country’s first official, Cuarto Poder emphasized. Boluarte, however, did not comply with any of these provisions.

The Special Team against Corruption in Power (Eficcop) points to Castañeda as the legal arm of the alleged influence peddling network headed by Nicanor Boluarte, brother of the ruler, also detained. According to the investigation, the lawyer would have proposed illicit benefits to Colonels Harvey Colchado and Walter Lozano in exchange for concluding the investigations against the presidential relative.

Boluarte has stated that he will not be distracted by “minor matters” and expressed his confidence in justice, although he did not directly mention the arrest of his relative. For her part, the spokesperson for the presidential office, Fredy Hinojosa, assured that the president “in no way” considers resigning.

“The important thing is that the Government has established the major national objectives,” he said while, almost simultaneously, the Public Ministry announced the initiation of proceedings against the president for alleged cover-up by deactivating the police group that supports anti-corruption prosecutors before the apprehension of his brother.
