Vellore District Police celebrated Pongal with their families on Thursday. In this, Collector B. Kumaravel Pandian, DIG Vellore Charaka MS Muthuchami, District Superintendent of Police S. Rajeshkannan participated with the family.

Thai Pongal festival is going to be celebrated all over Tamil Nadu on Sunday. In view of this, on behalf of Vellore District Police Department, Kavalar Pongal Festival was held at Netaji Sports Ground in Vellore on Thursday. In the ceremony, the district police attended with their families in traditional attire.

Subsequently, they worshiped Pongal in 23 pots in front of 23 police stations across the district. Later, sports competitions were held for children, women, policemen and traditional arts programs including karakattam, wailatam, mayilatam were held.

Prizes were given to the winners of the competitions.

Collector B. Kumaravel Pandian, DIG Vellore Saraga MS Muthuchami, District Superintendent of Police S. Rajeshkannan, Mayor Sujatha Anandakumar, District Revenue Officer K. Ramamurthy, Rural Development Agency Project Director K. Arthi and others participated in the ceremony.
