Dinesh Karthik is the oldest Indian to win the Man of the Match award at the T20 International.
India won the 4th T20 match against South Africa by 82 runs. In the first match played at Rajkot on Friday night, India scored 169 for 6 in 20 overs. South Africa were then bowled out for 87 in 16.5 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. The team’s captain Bauma was a ‘retired hot’.
The Hothik Pandya-Dinesh Gothic duo played brilliantly to lift the score as India struggled in the innings in this match. Dinesh Karthik, who took his first T20I half-century, was unbeaten on 55 off 27 balls with two sixes and nine fours. He eventually won the Man of the Match award. Pandya scored 46 runs. The 5-match T20 series is currently tied at 2-2. The last T20 match will be played in Bangalore tomorrow.
Commenting on the victory of the Indian team, Dinesh Karthik said:
I feel safe in the current team management. In the last game I could not play like I thought. (Lost by 6 runs) But I was able to be comfortable in the lounge after the game. Currently the lounge is a safe place. Gives a pleasant feeling. There are no changes whether you win or lose. There is a silence about something. Dravid was clear on how we should approach this series. He did not seem to say that we must defeat South Africa. Instead, he says what he expects from bowlers and batsmen. I think this clear position is very important.
In this situation, Dinesh Karthik is proud to be the senior Indian player to win the Man of the Match award in the T20 International. Dinesh Karthik, who won the Man of the Match award at the age of 37, is the first 35+ Indian player to win this award.
